Why do the white gulls call?
In celebration of my recent rewatching of the trilogy in all its splendid extendedness: My five favorite Lord of the Rings characters.
5) Sam - Number five was a race to the finish between Sam, Gimli, and Gandalf. Ultimately, Sam won out. A truer friend there never was. Sam epitomizes courage, friendship, and loyalty.  4) Theoden - Theoden is an honorable leader and King. He is constantly weighing what is best for his people and what is best for the world. He always takes a respectable stance when there is no "right" answer.  3) Eowyn - Eowyn is beautiful and wise, and would no doubt make a great leader to the people of Rohan. Also, it totally kicks ass when she cleaves the Fell Beast's head off and defeats the Witch King.  2) Galadriel - Galadriel's appeal is one part mystery, two parts creepy. She represents a powerful and benevolent force.  1) Faramir - Honestly, I just relate to his little brother complex. In the end, Faramir found the inner strength that Boromir could not, and his willpower shaped the fate of the world.

Good #1 choice with Gandalf...he ALMOST made it on my list. I especially like the part in ROTK when he is fighting with a sword and staff at the same time. Old dude kicking ass! I like Eowyn and Theoden because some of my favorite character moments are between them ... "I know your face." I'm also a big fan of Eowyn and Faramir hooking up, because they both got used to being second best and they settled for each other. I guess that's sweet?
yeah, faramir and eowyn are cool. i just love Rohan as a country of Middle Earth. They're way cooler than Gondor, and the hobbits tend to get on my nerves after a while. Dwarves are all secretive, and elves are kind of haughty, which leave Rohan. Rough around the edges, but really trustworthy, reliable people who are good with animals. Plus the music theme for Rohan from the movies is my favorite :)

you guys are so cute. I did not understand a word of the above conversation. my list would be like: "5 Lord of the Rings characters whose names I can still remember."
